In Loving Memory
It was a bittersweet day. Today was the funeral of my sister-in-law, Lucia Garcia Acuña. We celebrated her life and the impact she made on so many people. It was a time for family and this occasion brought us all together. She was buried next to my brother, Arturo Acuña who passed a year and a half ago. I am picturing sitting on a sunny porch with a warm breeze blowing and he serenading her with his guitar. OR. They might be in Vegas! They are together. We miss them dearly.
In a surprise gesture, the family asked at her request that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the South Texas Literacy Coalition. She was an educator and served in schools in Corpus Christi where there was poverty. She valued my work and for that I thank her and will keep the work in Literacy going. RIP, Luci
